Welcome to the Sanskrit Heritage site. You are invited to visit the first hypertext Sanskrit dictionary, available interactively through its index. It currently gives meanings in French, but has been designed for multilingual use. You may also download printable versions of this dictionary, under several formats, as explained below. This site offers also certain linguistic services for the Sanskrit language, such as a Sanskrit Reader which parses Sanskrit transliterated text into Sanskrit banks of tagged hypertext. Various phonological and morphological tools are also provided, as explained below. A general introduction to the site facilities is available here.

El diccionari, que recull 50.000 paraules, no sols va adreçat als especialistes, sinó també 'a totes aquelles persones que, sense conèixer la llengua, vulguin obtenir una informació introductòria sobre certs aspectes de la cultura índia. Per aquest motiu hi figuren algunes entrades de caràcter més enciclopèdic sobre mitologia, ioga, religió, etc.'
La importància d'aquest treball també està en el fet que Òscar Pujol ha actualitzat la lexicografia sànscrita. El diccionari inclou, per primera vegada, la doble etimologia (la tradicional dels gramàtics sànscrits i la de la lingüística comparada occidental).
